Green bean casserole gets a next-generation update that doesn’t hold back on flavor. Smother blanched green beans with smoky bacon-studded Texas Ranchero® pinto beans, top with gooey cheddar cheese and finish with crispy fried onions.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 lb. Applewood Smoked Bacon, Diced
  • 2.25 Qt Bush’s Best® Easy Entrées® Texas Ranchero® Pinto Beans, Drained
  • 2 Tbsp Kosher Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Ground Black Pepper
  • 3.75 lb. Green Beans, Blanched, Cooled
  • 3 cups Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
  • 3 cups Fried Onions, Prepared

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 lb. Applewood Smoked Bacon, Diced
  • 2.25 Qt Bush’s Best® Easy Entrées® Texas Ranchero® Pinto Beans, Drained
  • 2 Tbsp Kosher Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Ground Black Pepper
  • 3.75 lb. Green Beans, Blanched, Cooled
  • 3 cups Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
  • 3 cups Fried Onions, Prepared

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat a convection oven to 400ºF and place green beans in a baking dish or pan.
  2. Add cold bacon to a medium rondeau or pot. Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until bacon is crisp, and fat is rendered.
  3. Add beans to pot. Season with salt and pepper. Stir to combine. Simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes.
  4. Pour bean and bacon mixture over green beans. Top with cheddar cheese. Bake for 10 minutes.
  5. Garnish with fried onions and serve 4 oz. of green beans per person as a side.
